Provide Rs 1,200 annual DBT for school bags, books and uniforms to students from economically weaker families

The manifesto promised annual DBT assistance of Rs 1,200 for school bags, books and uniforms for students from economically weaker families. In 2024-25, Rajasthan transferred Rs 800 per student for uniforms, stitching and school bags to Classes 1 to 8 and to girls in Classes 9 to 12, benefiting 41.26 lakh students with expenditure of Rs 330.06 crore. In 2025-26, the verified benefit was reduced to Rs 600 for uniforms for eligible Classes 1 to 8 students, with 24.8 lakh beneficiaries by December 2025. The 2026-27 Budget continues uniform DBT for more than 40 lakh needy students, but the verified amount and covered items do not fully match the promised Rs 1,200 package including books. Budget: Rs 330.06 crore was utilised in 2024-25, and the 2026-27 Budget provides Rs 250 crore for free-uniform DBT.
