Our Assessment
Reviewed 30 September 2026. Revised from partial to pending for the specific increase to Rs 1,500 per month. Hindustan's 6 March 2026 report on Prayagraj records continuing payments at Rs 1,000 per month. The earlier rise to Rs 1,000 was already reported in January 2022, before this manifesto commitment; it should not earn partial credit for the later Rs 1,500 promise. More beneficiaries do not demonstrate a higher pension rate. No implemented Rs 1,500 monthly rate was verified. The previous assessment is retained below. Previous review (2026-06-10): Partly delivered. The destitute-women/widow pension in Uttar Pradesh stands at Rs 1,000 per month (raised earlier from Rs 500), as per the state Women Welfare Department, and the beneficiary base has expanded substantially. However, this remains below the promised Rs 1,500 per month, which has not been implemented. Marked partial.
