Our Assessment

Existing delivery evidence includes the reported 1 March 2026 release of ₹1,500 crore for the Holi refill for 1.86 crore beneficiaries. That is a reported government release, not an independent audit of receipt by every household. The 9 October Cabinet decision continues the programme for FY2026-27. The reported approved cost is ₹2,142.78 crore, covering the Diwali 2026 and Holi 2027 refill windows, subject to beneficiary eligibility and Aadhaar-linked bank authentication. This is approval of the coming cycle, not proof that those refills have already reached households. The ₹1,500 crore Holi release and ₹2,142.78 crore approved annual cost refer to different periods and must not be added or treated as the same amount. The Rs 1,500 crore figure refers to this Holi release, not the entire annual cost stated in the older note. No delivery claim is made for the forthcoming Diwali 2026 cycle.
