“We have empowered one crore rural women to become Lakhpati Didis. We will now empower three crore rural women to become Lakhpati Didis.”
The three crore target was met ahead of schedule. As of early 2026, 3.01 crore SHG women had become Lakhpati Didis (annual income of Rs 1 lakh or more), with the original end-2027 target achieved by 2025. The government has since raised the goal to 6 crore by 2029-30. The specific manifesto pledge to move from one crore to three crore Lakhpati Didis is fulfilled; the higher 6-crore target is a new, separate commitment.
3.01 crore women reported as Lakhpati Didis; the 3 crore target (set for end-2027) achieved by 2025, with the target now raised to 6 crore by 2029-30.
