Further strengthen the PM Vishwakarma Yojana for artisan families

Bharatiya Janata Party · Lok Sabha General Election 2024

Last updated 2 Jun 2026

For the first time since independence, we have initiated a specially designed programme for the upliftment of Vishwakarma families. Under this programme, we are providing financial assistance, credit facilities, training and skill development, and providing market access to Vishwakarma families. We will further strengthen Bharat’s Vishwakarmas through a series of such initiatives.

Our Assessment

high

PM Vishwakarma (launched 17 September 2023 for artisans across 18 traditional trades) is being actively strengthened and scaled. It provides recognition (digital ID/certificate), free skill training with a Rs 500/day stipend, a Rs 15,000 toolkit incentive, collateral-free enterprise loans up to Rs 3 lakh at 5% interest, digital-transaction incentives and market linkage. The initial 30 lakh registration target was achieved within two years; by late 2025, about 23-24 lakh artisans had been trained and over Rs 5,000 crore in loans disbursed, with FY2026-27 funding of about Rs 1,619 crore and new market access through ONDC and "Verified Vishwakarma" listings on e-commerce platforms. The pledge to further strengthen the scheme is being fulfilled.
