Our Assessment

medium

Affordable indigenous assistive devices continue to be developed and distributed under the ADIP scheme, with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) as the main implementing agency manufacturing aids and running Samajik Adhikarita Shivirs and Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendras nationwide. To deepen indigenous capacity, the proposed Divyang Sahara Yojana (announced around Budget 2026) plans Assistive Technology Marts, strengthened ALIMCO R&D (including a dedicated centre at AMTZ Visakhapatnam) and advanced devices. The atmanirbharta-in-assistive-devices pledge is being actively pursued; the newer ecosystem measures are still at proposal/early stage. Partial.
