What does this status mean?
Meaningful delivery has occurred, but the stated commitment is incomplete.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“We will facilitate the completion of the Taranga-Ambaji-Abu Road railway line in record time.”
Our Assessment
The Union Cabinet approved this 116.65-km line in July 2022, before the election, with a public completion expectation of 2026–27. Post-election land and construction work has continued. The central January 2026 monitoring report recorded 20% physical progress and a July 2030 target date. That is meaningful implementation, but no completed line or train service, and the earlier 'record time' expectation has slipped. The promise is Partially Done.
The reasoning behind the verdict
Why this assessment?
Reviewed
01 · Delivery status
Why partially done?
The pre-election approval alone is baseline. The January 2026 official report shows the project under implementation at 20% physical progress, with a target extending to July 2030. Construction progress is meaningful, but completion and operational rail service remain outstanding.
The bar reports physical construction progress, not an operational railway.
02 · Strength of evidence
Why high confidence?
The original Cabinet approval and central project-monitoring record identify the same 116.65-km line and document its progress and target date directly. Confidence is High.
What would help us reassess?
The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.
- Updated segment-wise construction and land-acquisition progress
- Completion, inspection and safety authorisation for the full line
- First passenger-service date and explanation of the 2026–27 to 2030 timetable change
