Build mega recreational parks in all major urban areas
Bharatiya Janata Party · Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election 2022
Last updated 15 Oct 2026
What does this status mean?
Meaningful delivery has occurred, but the stated commitment is incomplete.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“Construct Mega Recreational Parks in all major urban areas with natural landscaping, picnic areas, athletic fields, yoga centres, and playgrounds.”
Our Assessment
Gujarat has delivered relevant large recreational spaces. Rajkot's Atal Sarovar opened to the public on 1 May 2024 and is a substantial operational lakefront and recreation park, documented by the municipal corporation, its operator and DD News. It provides a concrete example of delivered public recreational infrastructure. However, the manifesto promises mega recreational parks across all major urban areas, with a specified range of facilities. A statewide list showing coverage, completion and those facilities in every major urban area could not be verified. Existing gardens and isolated new parks do not establish the full geographic commitment. The promise is Partially Done.
The reasoning behind the verdict
Why this assessment?
Reviewed
01 · Delivery status
Why partially done?
Large recreational infrastructure is operating in at least some cities, but all-major-urban-area coverage and the complete promised facilities are not established.
02 · Strength of evidence
Why medium confidence?
Primary municipal and operator records verify an operational major park. Statewide coverage and a consistent definition of a qualifying mega park remain incomplete.
What would help us reassess?
The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.
- The list of major urban areas covered by the commitment and qualifying park locations
- City-wise completion, opening and facility records
- Maintenance, public-access and usage information for the delivered parks
