Double wind electricity generation using onshore and offshore parks
Bharatiya Janata Party · Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election 2022
Last updated 15 Oct 2026
What does this status mean?
Meaningful delivery has occurred, but the stated commitment is incomplete.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“Double power generation through wind energy using offshore and onshore wind parks.”
Our Assessment
Gujarat's annual wind output has risen to about 33,706 million units in FY2025–26. Against FY2021–22, the last complete pre-election year, doubling would require about 35,710 million units. Output is therefore close to, but below, that benchmark. Offshore development remains in preparation; approvals are not counted as operating generation.
The reasoning behind the verdict
Why this assessment?
Reviewed
01 · Delivery status
Why partially done?
Recorded electricity output remains below the doubling benchmark, and offshore generation has not been verified.
FY2025–26 output versus twice FY2021–22's 17,854.77 MU. This disclosed pre-election baseline is an assessment choice; the manifesto did not specify one. Includes statewide output, with offshore delivery assessed separately.
02 · Strength of evidence
Why high confidence?
Parliamentary replies publish annual generation directly; the baseline is explicitly stated rather than inferred from installed MW.
What would help us reassess?
The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.
- A full-year wind-generation total reaching twice the selected pre-election baseline
- Official clarification of the intended baseline year
- Commissioning and actual electricity output from Gujarat offshore wind projects
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes the evidence.
