What does this status mean?
Meaningful delivery has occurred, but the stated commitment is incomplete.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“We will ensure Gujarat continues to be a leader in scaling renewable energy capacity in India by increasing Gujarat’s share in India’s renewable energy production capacity from 15% to 18% by 2030, taking it to 90 GW.”
Our Assessment
MNRE's September 2026 capacity table records 55.51 GW in Gujarat. Gujarat accounts for about 18.55% of the national renewable total, so the 18% component has been reached at this snapshot. The separate 90 GW target remains incomplete. Because one numerical component is met and the other remains substantially short, the promise is Partially Done.
The reasoning behind the verdict
Why this assessment?
Reviewed
01 · Delivery status
Why partially done?
The national-share component is met; substantial capacity remains to reach 90 GW.
MNRE, 30 September 2026; includes large hydro and off-grid components in that table. National-share subtarget is assessed separately.
02 · Strength of evidence
Why high confidence?
A single same-date government table supplies both state and national denominators.
What would help us reassess?
The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.
- Commissioned capacity reaching 90 GW by 2030
- Continued same-date state and India capacity figures to check the national share
