Develop economic corridors along Bharatmala expressways in Gujarat
Bharatiya Janata Party · Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election 2022
Last updated 12 Oct 2026
What does this status mean?
Meaningful delivery has occurred, but the stated commitment is incomplete.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“We will develop dedicated economic corridors along the expressways being built under the Bharatmala Pariyojana.”
Our Assessment
Bharatmala predates the 2022 election, so its original approval is a baseline, not delivery of this pledge. After the election, the Tharad–Ahmedabad access-controlled corridor received project appraisal approval in March 2024. Union figures recorded 977 km constructed out of 1,194 km of Bharatmala road projects awarded in Gujarat by February 2025, and a 2026 parliamentary reply listed the 213-km Tharad–Deesa–Mehsana–Ahmedabad corridor among approved projects. These are concrete road-network steps relevant to the commitment. However, the aggregate kilometres cannot be attributed wholly to the post-election period, and the sources do not establish a separate mapped and operational network of dedicated economic corridors along the expressways. The promise is Partially Done.
The reasoning behind the verdict
Why this assessment?
Reviewed
01 · Delivery status
Why partially done?
An access-controlled Gujarat corridor received post-election approval and Bharatmala construction has progressed in the state. This is relevant physical implementation, but the available figures mix pre- and post-election work and do not identify completion of the promised dedicated economic-corridor network.
The 977 km constructed figure covers all Gujarat Bharatmala projects reported through February 2025; it is context, not a promise-completion numerator. No progress bar is shown because the manifesto gives no corridor count or length target.
02 · Strength of evidence
Why medium confidence?
The PPP appraisal list and Union road-ministry replies document the approved corridor and state-wide construction. Confidence is medium because the sources do not map which built stretches or economic nodes constitute the specific manifesto pledge.
What would help us reassess?
The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.
- A state or Union map naming the dedicated economic corridors linked to Gujarat’s Bharatmala expressways
- Post-2022 segment-wise construction and opening dates, separated from pre-election work
- Operational logistics, industrial or port connections attributable to each corridor
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes the evidence.
