“We will provide infrastructural support for piggery, goat herding and cattle farming activities worth ₹50,000 to all the landless labourers of the state by leveraging the MGNREGA scheme.”
The promise was Rs 50,000 worth of piggery, goat-herding and cattle-farming infrastructure support to all landless labourers by leveraging MGNREGA. Uttarakhand Rural Development Department describes MGNREGS convergence livelihood packages with preference for landless and SECC families, including a goat rearing unit with cattle shed costing Rs 0.40 lakh, goats, horticulture, vermicompost and water tank support. The Bageshwar district page reports 534 families benefited in FY 2024-25 with goat sheds, vermicompost pits, tanks and home fruit gardens from MGNREGA, plus goats, cows and poultry from Animal Husbandry, with total expenditure of Rs 391.9 lakh. This partially delivers the livestock-livelihood intent. I did not verify statewide coverage for all landless labourers or a uniform Rs 50,000 package for piggery, goat herding and cattle farming. Budget status: MGNREGA convergence expenditure is verified in Bageshwar examples, but no statewide all-landless allocation found.
