Complete Tanakpur-Bageshwar rail line

The promise was completion of the Tanakpur-Bageshwar rail line. A 2025 Lok Sabha answer says field survey for the 170 km line has been completed and the DPR prepared at an assessed cost of Rs 48,692 crore, but it also says the project has low traffic projections and still needs stakeholder consultation plus NITI Aayog and Finance Ministry approvals; exact timelines cannot be fixed. That is preparatory work, not construction or completion. Because the promised endpoint is completion and the project is not sanctioned for execution in the evidence found, this remains pending. Budget status: no sanctioned execution allocation for the line was verified.
