The promise was to set up an AIIMS satellite centre in Kumaon. A December 2024 Lok Sabha answer stated that approval had been accorded for a 280-bed satellite centre of AIIMS Rishikesh at Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand, at a project cost of Rs 494 crore and that project work started in August 2023. Times of India later reported progress but also delays against the expected 2025 timeline. This is on track rather than fulfilled because approved-source evidence shows construction/work started, not a fully operational satellite centre. Budget status: Rs 494 crore project cost is verified.
