Our Assessment
Reviewed 30 September 2026. Revised from pending to partial. ANI reported the launch of Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrushakti Yatra on 26 August 2026. The Times of India reported that resident women aged 60 and above can travel free on ordinary UPSRTC buses from 28 August, using Aadhaar or voter ID for a zero-fare ticket. This supersedes the older note saying no scheme had launched. The verified scheme covers ordinary UPSRTC buses; it does not establish free access across all public transport covered by the broader promise. No statewide journey or coverage total is claimed. Previous review (2026-06-09): Not confirmed. As of early 2026 there is no credible record of a scheme providing free public-transport travel for women above 60 in Uttar Pradesh. UPSRTC offers standard concessions, but no such free-travel programme for senior women has been documented or launched. Marked pending.
