UP has restarted long-closed mills (Ramala, Munderwa, Pipraich), modernised and expanded capacity at 40-plus sugar mills, and runs a phased modernisation plan for cooperative mills, with allocations such as Rs 24 crore for off-season repairs in 2024-25 and integrated-complex revivals. However, a single branded 'Sugar Mill Renovation Mission' with a Rs 5,000 crore outlay is not separately documented under that name, and 'new cooperative mills' has mostly meant revival/expansion rather than new units.
