Partly delivered. Uttar Pradesh already had the Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021, which prohibited unlawful conversion by misrepresentation, force, undue influence, coercion, allurement, fraudulent means or marriage-related unlawful conversion. In 2024, the state passed amendments making the law stricter, including punishment ranges of 3 to 10 years for illegal religious conversion and higher punishment for aggravated categories. However, because the manifesto wording says “at least 10 years” while the amended law uses graded punishment ranges rather than a universal minimum of 10 years for all such cases, this is marked partial.
