Medical colleges and 2,000 more medical seats

The manifesto promised more medical seats by establishing a medical college in every Lok Sabha area and adding 2,000 seats over five years. Budget reporting in 2026 said five new government medical colleges opened in the past two years, MBBS seats rose from 2,275 to 2,850, postgraduate seats rose from 262 to 1,468, and PPP contracts had been signed in Dhar, Baijnath and Panna with nine more planned. Times of India separately reported proposed 2025-26 additions in Sheopur and Singrauli and further plans for 2026-27. This shows active movement toward the seat-expansion target, but it does not yet deliver 2,000 added seats or verify a medical college in every Lok Sabha constituency.
