Double hospital and ICU beds

The manifesto promised to double the number of hospital and ICU beds. Budget reporting in 2026 recorded 55 district hospitals, 158 civil hospitals, 348 community health centres, 1,442 primary health centres and 256 sub-health centres, with a combined capacity of 48,000 beds. This shows a substantial health infrastructure base, but it does not prove that hospital and ICU beds have doubled against the manifesto baseline after the 2023 election. I found no approved-source baseline-and-current comparison for ICU beds or total hospital beds sufficient to verify doubling. Since the term is still underway, the verdict is pending rather than broken. Budget: health-sector allocations exist, but no utilisation evidence proving the doubling target was found.
