Make Bharat a global manufacturing hub and enhance sectoral employment

Bharatiya Janata Party · Lok Sabha General Election 2024

Last updated 4 Jun 2026

Under the Make in India programme, manufacturing has emerged as a major economic sector with good success in electronics, defence, mobile, automobiles and more. We will work towards making Bharat a global manufacturing hub and enhance employment in these crucial sectors.

Our Assessment

medium

Manufacturing is being scaled through Make in India and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes across 14 sectors, with visible success in electronics and mobile phones (India now a leading mobile-phone manufacturer/exporter), defence and automobiles, supported by industrial-corridor infrastructure and regulatory reform. Making Bharat a "global manufacturing hub" is a continuing trajectory rather than a realised end-state, and manufacturing’s share of GDP has yet to rise substantially. Partial. (Note: closely related to the broader "trusted global value chain partner" commitment under the Prosperous Bharat section; this entry reflects the sector-specific Make in India framing.)
