Make Bharat a global electronics manufacturing hub by 2030

Bharatiya Janata Party · Lok Sabha General Election 2024

Last updated 4 Jun 2026

In the last ten years we have established a USD 100+ billion electronics manufacturing industry. We have already become the second largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world. We will consolidate our efforts and expand electronics manufacturing three times to become a major player in the global value chain. We will leverage our design capabilities to develop indigenous brands.

Our Assessment

high

Electronics manufacturing has scaled to a USD 100+ billion industry, with India among the world’s largest mobile-phone manufacturers and rising smartphone exports, supported by PLI schemes for large-scale electronics and IT hardware. In April 2025 the government launched the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) to deepen the domestic components ecosystem and reduce import dependence, complementing the design-led push for indigenous brands. The pledge’s specific target - tripling electronics manufacturing by around 2030 - is a forward goal that is being worked towards but not yet achieved. Partial (strong action).
