highMission Mausam was approved by the Cabinet in September 2024 with an outlay of about Rs 2,000 crore to make India "weather-ready" and "climate-smart" - expanding the observation network (radars, radiosondes, wind profilers, ocean buoys), improving high-resolution forecasting and weather-modelling, and developing weather-modification/cloud-seeding research, led by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (IMD, IITM, NCMRWF). The mission has been launched and is in implementation. Partial (launched; capability build-out ongoing).
