The enhancement was announced in the Union Budget 2024-25 on 23 July 2024 and formally notified on 24 October 2024 through a new "Tarun Plus" category covering loans above Rs 10 lakh and up to Rs 20 lakh, available to borrowers who have successfully repaid an earlier Tarun-category loan, with guarantee cover under the Credit Guarantee Fund for Micro Units (CGFMU).
