“We will encourage innovative and technology-driven startups to initiate commercially viable and sustainable forest-based enterprises and value addition for forest produce. We will associate all eligible tribal self-help groups with Vandhan Vikas Kendra, FPOs, NRLM for scaling up the activities relating to minor forest produces and will be provided skill and entrepreneurial training.”
Minor-forest-produce livelihoods are being scaled through Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs), the MSP for Minor Forest Produce scheme and TRIFED, linking tribal SHGs to value-addition, skilling and markets. VDVKs are being operationalised at scale, including 332 reported operational under PM JANMAN for PVTG communities and many more under the wider Van Dhan programme, with skill and entrepreneurial training and FPO/NRLM convergence. The pledge is being actively pursued but full association of all eligible SHGs and a mature startup ecosystem for forest produce is still developing. Partial.
MoTA accelerates Van Dhan Vikas Kendras for tribal forest-produce livelihoods (including under PM JANMAN), with training, business-plan and toolkit support for SHGs.
