“We have incentivized crop diversification with appropriate price support strategy. Building on this, we are committed to further expand crop diversification to make agriculture sustainable and remunerative.”
Crop diversification continues to be incentivised through price-support and procurement strategy: PM-AASHA (extended for 2025-26) and assured MSP procurement under the pulses and oilseeds missions (e.g. 100% procurement of tur, urad and masoor) are designed to pull farmers away from water-intensive paddy/wheat towards pulses, oilseeds and other crops, reinforced by higher relative MSP increases for those crops. The pledge to further expand diversification is being acted on, though a single dedicated diversification programme is not separately evidenced and outcomes are gradual. Partial.
We will introduce drones, biosecurity measures and advanced disease-management technologies to strengthen aquaculture and protect the fisheries sector.
We will leverage satellite imagery and communication technology to enhance the safety of our fishermen at sea, providing timely alerts and information.
We will establish Nucleus Breeding Centres and Brood Banks to ensure availability of quality fish seed and broodstock for self-reliance in the fisheries sector.
