“We have ensured unprecedented increase in MSP for major crops, and we will continue to increase MSP from time to time.”
MSP has continued to be raised each season in line with the pledge. The CCEA approved higher MSP for 14 Kharif crops for 2025-26 (paddy up Rs 69 to Rs 2,369 per quintal; large hikes for nigerseed, ragi, cotton, sesamum) and for Rabi 2026-27 (wheat up Rs 160 to Rs 2,585 per quintal), maintaining the policy of fixing MSP at least 1.5 times the all-India weighted average cost of production. A further Kharif 2026-27 MSP hike was approved in May 2026. The pledge to continue increasing MSP from time to time is being fulfilled. (Note: this pledge concerns periodic MSP increases, not a legal guarantee of MSP, which is a separate demand.)
Cabinet approves Rabi MSP for 2026-27: wheat raised Rs 160 to Rs 2,585/quintal, retaining the 1.5x cost-of-production formula.
