“We will encourage farmers to use high-yielding, climate resilient and bio-fortified varieties of seeds.”
The pledge is being actively delivered. On 11 August 2024 the PM released 109 high-yielding, climate-resilient and bio-fortified varieties across 61 crops (34 field and 27 horticultural), developed by ICAR, with explicit promotion through programmes such as Mid-Day Meal and Anganwadi to address malnutrition and directions to KVKs to spread awareness. Continued release and promotion of such varieties reflects clear action on the commitment. Fulfilled (with ongoing release of further varieties).
