PMMSY supports fisheries and aquaculture clusters (including dedicated marine, inland, seaweed and ornamental-fish clusters) and value-chain infrastructure, with women’s participation a notable feature (about 99,018 women reported empowered, and women-led seaweed SHGs in Tamil Nadu). However, a clearly defined network of production/processing clusters with explicit, measurable focus on coastal women is only partially evidenced. Partial.
We will introduce drones, biosecurity measures and advanced disease-management technologies to strengthen aquaculture and protect the fisheries sector.
We will leverage satellite imagery and communication technology to enhance the safety of our fishermen at sea, providing timely alerts and information.
We will establish Nucleus Breeding Centres and Brood Banks to ensure availability of quality fish seed and broodstock for self-reliance in the fisheries sector.
