“We will further extend the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana to increase fish production and increase our annual seafood exports.”
The pledge to extend PMMSY has been delivered: the Ministry of Finance (Department of Expenditure) agreed to extend PMMSY up to FY2025-26 under the existing design and funding pattern. Over its first five years the scheme delivered record fish production of about 195 lakh tonnes and 58 lakh livelihoods, and India remained a leading seafood exporter (marine products exports about USD 7.38 billion in FY24). The "extend the scheme" commitment is fulfilled; production and export growth continue as ongoing outcomes.
