What does this status mean?
Meaningful delivery has occurred, but the stated commitment is incomplete.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“We will focus on the technology and sustainability transition happening in steel, cement, metals, and engineering goods industries. We will support these industries to adopt greener manufacturing processes.”
Our Assessment
The government is supporting decarbonisation of core industries: a National Green Steel Mission/green steel taxonomy has been advanced to define and promote low-emission steel, green-hydrogen use in steelmaking is being piloted under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, and energy-efficiency (PAT) and emissions-intensity measures apply to cement and metals. These efforts are under way but the technology-and-sustainability transition is a long-term, ongoing process. Partial.
