Provide 1 lakh jobs, starting in the first cabinet meeting

The first cabinet on 13 January 2023 did not create jobs; it constituted a sub-committee to draw up a roadmap for the one-lakh-employment promise. The first-year target of one lakh jobs was not met. By the 2025-26 budget the Chief Minister announced about 25,000 new jobs for the year, citing fiscal constraints, and the government claimed roughly 42,000 jobs over two years, with critics noting many were contractual, temporary or pre-existing vacancies. The specific time-bound promise was missed and effectively scaled back, hence broken. Job creation is continuing at a lower level than promised; fiscal stress after the Centre withdrew Revenue Deficit Grant support is the government stated reason.
