Help us verify“The minimum wage will be increased to Rs 500 per day.”
The state revised minimum wages with effect from 1 April 2025, fixing the base rate for unskilled workers at Rs 425 per day, Rs 12,750 per month, across all 19 scheduled employments, with a 25% loading in Scheduled Tribe areas. This is a real increase but falls short of the promised Rs 500 per day; the Rs 500 mark is reached only in tribal areas via the additional loading, not as the general floor. Recorded as partial; the rate could be revised again before the term ends. Budget: the minimum wage is a statutory floor binding on employers rather than a state budget line.
Minimum wage revised; unskilled base set at Rs 425/day, below the promised Rs 500/day.
