Launch an organic and natural produce marketing federation
Bharatiya Janata Party · Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election 2022
Last updated 10 Oct 2026
What does this status mean?
The stated commitment has been substantively delivered, supported by evidence.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“We will launch India’s first Organic and Natural Produce Marketing Federation.”
Our Assessment
A functioning national cooperative now performs the promised marketing role. National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL) was registered in January 2023, with Gujarat-based GCMMF among its promoters, and is listed by the Union Ministry of Cooperation in Anand, Gujarat. By August 2026 it was procuring and marketing certified organic produce through the Bharat Organics brand, cooperative outlets, retail and online channels. This delivers a marketing institution for organic produce, though its legal form and name differ from the manifesto wording and it is a Union-level cooperative rather than a separately notified Gujarat federation. The core launch and operating service are fulfilled; the claim to be 'India’s first' is not independently established here.
The reasoning behind the verdict
Why this assessment?
Reviewed
01 · Delivery status
Why fulfilled?
NCOL was registered after the 2022 election and now operates procurement, branding and marketing channels for certified organic produce. It is based in Anand and Gujarat’s dairy marketing cooperative is a promoter. Under the delivery-focused methodology, this substantively equivalent functioning federation satisfies the core promise to launch a marketing institution, even though its formal title and national cooperative structure differ.
This verdict covers the operational marketing function. It does not verify the manifesto’s absolute 'India’s first' claim or imply that a distinct Gujarat state federation was notified.
02 · Strength of evidence
Why medium confidence?
Union ministry records directly establish NCOL’s formation, Gujarat location and operating sales channels. Confidence is Medium because the institutional equivalence and attribution to the Gujarat manifesto pledge involve an interpretive judgment.
What would help us reassess?
The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.
- Direct government statement linking NCOL to the Gujarat manifesto commitment
- Gujarat farmer membership and procurement volumes through NCOL
- Evidence of natural, as distinct from certified organic, produce marketing
- Clarification of the 'India’s first' description against earlier institutions
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes the evidence.
