Promote Gujarat’s natural-farming university as a training centre of excellence

What does this status mean?
Meaningful delivery has occurred, but the stated commitment is incomplete.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“We will ensure that the Gujarat Natural Farming and Organic Agricultural University is promoted as a Centre of Excellence to train Gujarati farmers in global best practices of organic and natural farming.”
Our Assessment
Gujarat Natural Farming Science University at Halol is active as a training and knowledge venue. The Union agriculture ministry held a two-day national natural-farming workshop there in January 2025, and the Governor’s February 2026 Assembly address described training, research, camps and seminars at the university and state natural-farming institutions. This is real delivery of the training function. I could not verify a formal Centre of Excellence designation or a university-specific count of Gujarati farmers trained in the promised global best practices. The operating activity supports Partially Done, while the designation and full scope remain unverified.
The reasoning behind the verdict
Why this assessment?
Reviewed
01 · Delivery status
Why partially done?
The university hosted a national workshop and the state reports that its natural-farming institutions run training and research activities. These are concrete steps toward the promised excellence and farmer training role. Formal Centre of Excellence status and the specific global-best-practice training outcome were not verified, so the promise is Partially Done.
The manifesto’s university name differs from the current Gujarat Natural Farming Science University name. The assessment follows the institution and delivered function, while treating the unverified Centre of Excellence designation separately.
02 · Strength of evidence
Why medium confidence?
Official Union and Gujarat Assembly records confirm university activity. Confidence is Medium because a designation order, programme curriculum and university-level participant and outcome data are missing.
What would help us reassess?
The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.
- Government or university notification conferring Centre of Excellence status
- University training curriculum documenting global organic and natural-farming practices
- University-specific farmer attendance and completion counts after 2022
- Field follow-up showing trained farmers’ adoption of practices
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes the evidence.
