What does this status mean?

Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.

Original manifesto wording

Our Assessment

Gujarat is expanding natural-farming demonstrations, but the specific village-level target remains unverified. In its February 2026 Assembly address, the state reported about 7,100 model natural-farming farms. In March 2026, the government announced a plan to develop 500 dedicated natural-farming villages. These are substantive steps toward the promised role-model network. A model farm is not a model village, however, and the announcement does not establish that the villages are operating or that every taluka has one. The promise is Partially Done pending a taluka-wise list of completed model villages.

The reasoning behind the verdict

Why this assessment?

Reviewed

01 · Delivery status

Why partially done?

The state reports 7,100 model farms and has announced a 500-village natural-farming programme. This is meaningful activity toward demonstration-based natural farming, but there is no verified taluka-wise count of completed model villages. The distinct output promised was a village in every taluka, so the farm count cannot be treated as the completed-village count.

No progress bar is shown because model farms and planned villages are not a comparable numerator for the every-taluka village target.

02 · Strength of evidence

Why medium confidence?

Official state Assembly material verifies the model-farm count, and public broadcaster reporting documents the government’s 500-village announcement. Confidence is medium because the evidence does not show completed village locations or every-taluka coverage.

What would help us reassess?

The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.

  • A government list of designated model organic and natural-farming villages, with taluka and designation date
  • Evidence of farming activity, training and demonstration in each designated village
  • Number of talukas with at least one operational model village

Status describes delivery. Confidence describes the evidence.
