Our Assessment

An indexed Water Resources Department publication, Water Scenario & Vision Plan of Gujarat State, describes broad water-resource and demand planning with a 2045 horizon. Its adoption date, post-election preparation and complete drinking-water-specific roadmap could not be verified in the accessible records. Older regional Narmada drinking-water master plans predate the 2022 election. A differently named plan could deliver this commitment, but the available evidence does not yet establish a new adopted statewide plan covering future demand, capability and implementation responsibilities. The active-term assessment is Pending with Low confidence.

The reasoning behind the verdict

Why this assessment?

Reviewed

01 · Delivery status

Why pending?

No adopted post-election statewide drinking-water plan with the promised demand, capability and implementation roadmap was verified. The undated general vision document and older regional plans are insufficient to establish current-term delivery.

02 · Strength of evidence

Why low confidence?

Relevant government planning material exists, but its timing, adoption and drinking-water-specific scope remain uncertain.

What would help us reassess?

The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.

  • The adopted statewide drinking-water plan, under any title, with its approval and publication date
  • Current and future rural and urban demand projections, available supply and capability assessment
  • A costed implementation roadmap with responsible agencies, milestones and monitoring arrangements

Status describes delivery. Confidence describes the evidence.
