Provide high-quality uninterrupted drinking water daily across Gujarat

What does this status mean?
Meaningful delivery has occurred, but the stated commitment is incomplete.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“We will strengthen drinking water distribution infrastructure by building the missing links and adding newer lines to provide high-quality, uninterrupted drinking water daily in every village, town and city of Gujarat.”
Our Assessment
Gujarat continues to deliver and extend drinking-water infrastructure. In its February 2026 address to the Assembly, the government reported a 3,290-km bulk-pipeline grid serving 15,802 villages and 251 urban regions, and the launch of 12 water-supply schemes worth ₹443 crore during the year. It also reported water-quality monitoring and three additional laboratories. These are substantive contributions to the promise. However, a connection to the grid or a household tap does not by itself establish high-quality, uninterrupted daily supply. Public records reviewed do not establish that the promised service standard is being met in every rural and urban settlement. The promise is Partially Done.
The reasoning behind the verdict
Why this assessment?
Reviewed
01 · Delivery status
Why partially done?
Water-supply schemes have been delivered and distribution infrastructure serves a large share of Gujarat, but universal daily reliability and water quality have not been demonstrated across every village, town and city.
02 · Strength of evidence
Why medium confidence?
The Assembly address provides authoritative infrastructure and commissioning figures. Evidence of service continuity, quality compliance and remaining geographic gaps is less complete.
What would help us reassess?
The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.
- Settlement-wise daily supply duration, quantity and interruption records
- Water-quality compliance results for delivered water, including rural and urban endpoints
- A list of uncovered or unreliable-supply settlements and completion dates for missing links
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes the evidence.
