Screen women and children for anaemia and provide regular treatment
Bharatiya Janata Party · Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election 2022

What does this status mean?
Meaningful delivery has occurred, but the stated commitment is incomplete.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“We will initiate the Gujarat Anaemia Eradication Mission to conduct mass screening of anaemic children and women and provide them with regular treatment and supplements.”
Our Assessment
The state review documents NIPI micronutrient work, maternal examinations and PURNA nutrition support for adolescent girls. NHM programme records also cover anaemia interventions. These are relevant implementation under equivalent programmes. The review did not establish a statewide screening-to-treatment register showing women and children tested, diagnosed, treated and followed up regularly. Sickle-cell screening is a separate inherited-disorder programme and is not used as proof of comprehensive nutritional-anaemia coverage.
The reasoning behind the verdict
Why this assessment?
Reviewed
01 · Delivery status
Why partially done?
Anaemia-related services operate, but comprehensive screening and sustained treatment coverage for both women and children remains unverified.
02 · Strength of evidence
Why medium confidence?
Relevant delivery evidence exists, but complete scope, coverage or independent verification remains limited.
What would help us reassess?
The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.
- Anaemia testing counts by age and sex with eligible denominators
- Treatment, supplement supply and repeat-haemoglobin follow-up records
