Introduce farm drones for monitoring, spraying and crop-damage assessment
Bharatiya Janata Party · Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election 2022

What does this status mean?
Meaningful delivery has occurred, but the stated commitment is incomplete.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“We will introduce drones for real-time monitoring of farm produce, spraying pesticides and fertilisers, and assessing crop damage.”
Our Assessment
Farm drones have entered Gujarat’s agricultural support channels. A July 2025 Union agriculture reply reported 18 drones distributed to women’s self-help groups in Gujarat under Namo Drone Didi. Gujarat’s iKhedut portal later opened applications for Kisan Drone support in May–June 2026. These records demonstrate introduction and access for agricultural use, including spraying. They do not yet establish statewide real-time crop monitoring or use of drones to assess crop damage, nor how many drone services reached farmers. Because some functions are underway but the full three-part promise is not verified, the status is Partially Done.
The reasoning behind the verdict
Why this assessment?
Reviewed
01 · Delivery status
Why partially done?
The Union agriculture ministry reports 18 drones distributed to Gujarat self-help groups, and Gujarat’s own iKhedut portal has opened a Kisan Drone support component. That is real adoption beyond a proposal. The sources do not show operational coverage for real-time crop monitoring or drone-based loss assessment, so only part of the specified bundle is verified.
The 18 drones are a distribution count under a Union programme, not a measure of completed monitoring, spraying and damage-assessment services throughout Gujarat. No single percentage bar is suitable for the three distinct functions.
02 · Strength of evidence
Why medium confidence?
Official Union and state records establish the presence of drone schemes and the 18-drone distribution. Confidence is Medium because usage logs and verified deployment for each promised function are missing.
What would help us reassess?
The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.
- State Kisan Drone subsidy approvals and drones placed in service
- Hectares and farmers served by drone-based pesticide and fertiliser spraying
- Operational real-time crop-monitoring records
- Use of drone surveys in official crop-damage assessments and compensation decisions
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes the evidence.
