What does this status mean?
Meaningful delivery has occurred, but the stated commitment is incomplete.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“Ensure the complete eradication of malnutrition among tribals”
Our Assessment
Nutrition services for tribal communities are operating, including Poshan Sudha meals for pregnant and lactating women and Doodh Sanjeevani milk supplementation. Gujarat's 2025–26 Socio-Economic Review reports Poshan Sudha delivery to approximately 1.53 lakh beneficiaries in 2024–25 and 1.02 lakh beneficiaries by 13 January 2026, with actual expenditure. This is substantive assistance, including continuation and expansion of earlier programmes. Beneficiary counts and food distribution do not establish complete eradication: no current, representative tribal-specific survey showing zero malnutrition across children, women and other tribal residents was verified. Statewide nutrition trends cannot substitute for that endpoint. The promise is Partially Done.
The reasoning behind the verdict
Why this assessment?
Reviewed
01 · Delivery status
Why partially done?
Delivered nutrition assistance counts toward the pledge, while complete elimination among the tribal population remains unverified.
02 · Strength of evidence
Why medium confidence?
The state review supplies delivery and spending evidence, but is accessed through a public mirror and lacks a matching tribal-specific elimination measure.
What would help us reassess?
The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.
- Recent representative ST-specific nutrition prevalence by age, sex and district
- Independent verification of the complete-eradication endpoint
- Programme coverage and sustained nutrition outcomes, with baseline comparisons
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes the evidence.
