Double Gujarat's agricultural exports within five years
Bharatiya Janata Party · Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election 2022

What does this status mean?
The term is active and there is no evidence of action or reversal.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“We will double Gujarat's agricultural export in the next 5 years.”
Our Assessment
Gujarat's agricultural exports are promised to double over five years from the 2022 election. A comparable Gujarat-origin agricultural export series has not been verified, so neither the starting value nor progress toward doubling can be calculated. National agriculture exports and the state's total merchandise exports are different measures. With the deadline still ahead, the outcome remains Pending rather than being judged unsuccessful.
The reasoning behind the verdict
Why this assessment?
Reviewed
01 · Delivery status
Why pending?
The manifesto sets a measurable target: Gujarat's agricultural exports should double within five years. I could not verify a consistent state-of-origin agricultural export series with a 2021–22 or 2022–23 baseline and a comparable recent year. National agriculture export totals and Gujarat's overall merchandise exports measure different things, so neither proves delivery. The term is still active, and missing comparable data does not show that exports failed to grow. The status remains Pending until a like-for-like state series is available.
The five-year target runs from the 2022 election period to about 2027. No comparable Gujarat-origin agricultural export baseline and current-year series was verified; national exports, all merchandise exports and selected commodity data cannot substitute for this measure.
02 · Strength of evidence
Why low confidence?
The manifesto target is clear, but the outcome cannot be calculated from the public sources reviewed. Confidence is Low because both the baseline and comparable recent Gujarat agricultural export value are missing.
What would help us reassess?
The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.
- Gujarat-origin agricultural export value for FY2021–22 or FY2022–23 and recent fiscal years, using the same product coverage
- The source agency, currency and treatment of re-exports or port-of-exit versus state-of-origin exports
- A comparable time series through the five-year deadline in 2027
