Bharatiya Janata Party · Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election 2022
Last updated 18 Oct 2026
What does this status mean?
Meaningful delivery has occurred, but the stated commitment is incomplete.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“We will establish a Centre for Genetics and Health in Ahmedabad for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of genetic diseases that will become a hub for prenatal genetic screening.”
Our Assessment
Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission lists a 2024–25 grant to FRIGE for a newborn genetic-screening panel, showing relevant public investment in genetic diagnostics. Ahmedabad's existing Institute of Human Genetics also provides testing. These do not verify a newly established government Centre for Genetics and Health with the promised prenatal-screening, prevention and treatment role. Newborn research and prenatal screening are distinct; the full centre remains unverified.
The reasoning behind the verdict
Why this assessment?
Reviewed
01 · Delivery status
Why partially done?
State-backed genetic-diagnostics work is relevant, but the new centre and prenatal hub are unverified.
02 · Strength of evidence
Why medium confidence?
Identifiable delivery or administrative action is documented, but full scope or coverage remains unverified.
What would help us reassess?
The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.
- Centre establishment order, ownership, commissioning and public services
- Prenatal screening, counselling, treatment pathways and access records
