Establish hygienic retail fish outlets in major urban centres

Partial. The commitment requires hygienic, modern retail fish outlets across all major urban centres. In 2023-24, the Directorate of Fisheries floated a tender for ten eco-friendly movable Matsya Vahini fish kiosks for distribution to fishermen, entrepreneurs, SHGs, cooperatives and associations. In August 2024, it launched a Matsya Vahini pilot with features intended to preserve freshness and reduce post-harvest losses, along with Matsya Aahar, a modern air-conditioned fish retail and food outlet built from a shipping container. Matsya Vahini vehicles were subsequently distributed to beneficiaries in June 2025. These measures deliver modern and hygienic retail access on a limited and partly mobile basis. However, no approved source confirms an operational outlet in every major urban centre or identifies statewide urban coverage equivalent to the promise. Status partial.
