Per the Jal Shakti Ministry and Delhi Jal Board (as of June 2025), Delhi generates about 3,596 MLD of sewage against 3,474 MLD of installed STP capacity, with about 2,955 MLD treated and roughly 641 MLD still entering the Yamuna untreated. Asia’s largest single-stage 564 MLD plant at Okhla became fully operational, and a ₹403 crore STP-upgrade plan was approved in February 2026; the Union Home Minister set a 1,500 MGD STP target by 2028. 100% treatment has not yet been achieved (PIB / DD News / Tribune).
