Two-part promise. The festival component (a free cylinder each on Holi and Diwali) has been delivered: the Cabinet cleared the Free LPG Cylinder Scheme (₹242.77 crore/year) on 3 February 2026, and on 2 March 2026 President Droupadi Murmu launched it, with ₹853 per cylinder (₹553 for PMUY beneficiaries after the central ₹300 subsidy) credited via DBT to roughly 15.48 lakh ration-card families for Holi (about ₹129 crore). The separate pledge of LPG at ₹500 year-round for poor women is not yet operational — officials say beneficiary data and eligibility are still being finalised. Hence partial, pending the ₹500 component and recurring Diwali tranches.
