Our Assessment

Since the 2024 election, MSPs have continued to be revised upward across successive crop seasons. CCEA approved higher MSPs for Kharif 2025-26, Rabi 2026-27, Kharif 2026-27 and Rabi 2027-28, providing direct evidence that the commitment to continue increasing MSP from time to time is being implemented. For Rabi 2027-28, MSP was increased for all six mandated Rabi crops, including wheat to ₹2,610 per quintal, rapeseed and mustard to ₹6,613, masur to ₹7,390 and safflower to ₹7,215. The promise is continuing in nature and does not specify a final MSP level, percentage increase, number of revisions or completion deadline. Under ManifestoWatch's methodology, continuing commitments with sustained implementation and observable progress are assessed as On Track while the commitment remains ongoing. This promise concerns periodic increases in notified MSPs and should not be interpreted as a commitment to provide a statutory or legal guarantee of MSP.
