Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“Employment will be ensured for families affected by power projects; in new power projects, a 100% guarantee of employment will be given to at least one member of each affected family.”
Our Assessment
No approved-source evidence was found that the specific commitment, a 100% guarantee of employment to at least one member of every family affected by new power projects, has been implemented as policy. Project-affected families do receive other forms of support under the hydropower framework, for example free electricity for affected families, Local Area Development Fund allocations and free-power royalties, and the government reported releasing about Rs 25.25 crore in financial assistance to hydropower-affected families and areas, but these are not the promised employment guarantee. Recorded as pending. Budget: affected-area and LADF funds exist, but no allocation specific to an employment guarantee was identified.
