Our Assessment

high

India has continued to act as a regional and global first responder. Most notably, under Operation Brahma it responded within hours to the 28 March 2025 Myanmar earthquake, delivering over 625 metric tonnes of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief via six aircraft and five naval ships, an NDRF urban search-and-rescue team, and an Army field hospital, coordinated across MEA, MoD and MHA. This builds on a sustained HADR record (e.g. Operation Dost for Turkey/Syria 2023, Vaccine Maitri, evacuation operations). The pledge to continue HADR and a first-responder reputation is being delivered. Fulfilled (ongoing).

Promise Timeline

29 Mar 2025

India launches Operation Brahma after the Myanmar earthquake, delivering 625+ MT of HADR material, NDRF rescue teams and an Army field hospital as "First Responder".
