Our Assessment

high

Modern driver facilities along highways are being developed through NHAI’s Wayside Amenities programme (600+ locations every 40-60 km, including trucker dormitories, parking, workshops, clean toilets and food courts) and the dedicated driver-centric "Apna Ghar" rest stops (e.g. 21 built on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, managed by IOCL, with beds, kitchens and CCTV security for as little as Rs 112/night). The Humsafar Policy (2025) further standardises these amenities. The substance of a "new scheme for truck drivers" is being delivered; nationwide rollout is still scaling. Partial.
