Accessibility of public infrastructure and transport is pursued mainly through the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan (Accessible India Campaign), which targets barrier-free buildings, transport and ICT — though it is primarily a Persons-with-Disabilities programme (now absorbed into the Creation of Barrier-Free Environment scheme under SIPDA) that benefits seniors indirectly. Some senior-specific transport accommodations exist (e.g. reserved lower berths for older passengers in trains). We will introduce a new scheme for truck drivers under which modern facilities will be developed along the national highways.
We will focus on the modern road network, enhance rail and metro connectivity with new-age trains and expanded networks, develop comprehensive EV charging stations, construct new airports and advance our telecom infrastructure with affordable 5G and innovative 6G technology, promoting ease of living for middle class families.
The BJP government commits to constructing 2 crore pucca houses for the urban and rural poor under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), ensuring housing for all by 2024. Every eligible family shall receive financial assistance for the construction or enhancement of their dwelling unit.
